And how it inspired me to help others
I have always been interested in natural therapies and after having a session of Bowen Therapy in 2010 I found a gentle yet powerful modality that I connected and decided to make a career as a Bowen Therapist.
Then while in Singapore in 2011 I found Jin Shin Jyutsu, or should I say Jin Shin Jyutsu found me!
I connected deeply with Jin Shin Jyutsu and couldn’t wait to learn it, so that I could add this beautiful modality to my offering.
Fortunately for me, I discovered that Jin Shin Jyutsu has an added component of self help.
I learnt first hand how beneficial this self help could be when in 2012 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease, an autoimmune disease that causes the thyroid to become overactive.
For eight months I was totally incapacitated and unable to work due to the debilitating side effects of my thyroid medication and my out of control thyroid levels.
After then rejecting my specialist advice to have my thyroid surgically removed, I was desperate to get well without such drastic and permanent measure.
So I headed to New Zealand for a series of intensive Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments and then came home and religiously used Jin Shin Jyutsu Self Help moves targeted directly at the thyroid.
Six weeks later, pathology results showed my thyroid results had dramatically improved and 12 months later were within normal range.
6 years later I remain disease free. I can completely contribute my healing and continued good health to
Jin Shin Jyutsu.
JIN SHIN JYUTSU
What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is the ancient art of balancing the body’s energy system, which acts by healing and restores the body to a more harmonious state of being. Jin Shin Jyutsu practioners use their hands to gently balance the flow of life energy in the clients body.
How Does It Work?
Jin Shin Jyutsu Has 26 Safety Energy Locks along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one of the paths become blocked the result can cause disharmony. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to the body. To harmonize the energy in our body the practioner applies their fingertips over clothing on designated areas of the body. This allows the blocked energy to flow freely. It is effective for the treatment of all conditions as a complementary therapy. The treatment takes one hour with the client laying on their back, or the application can be done sitting in a chair. There is no massage or physical manipulation of the body.
What are the benefits of Jin Shin Jyutsu?
The experience of Jin Shin Jyutsu is unique to each individual and to each session. The most commonly reported effect is a feeling of deep relaxation of both mind and body during and after treatment.
For optimun health our energy needs to flow freely. The stressors of daily life- habits, emotions, illness and physical activity add up over time.
They can have adverse effects on the natural flow of energy along these pathways, similar to the way stones inhibit the free movement of water in a stream.
Who Should Have Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Everybody can have Jin Shin Jyutsu, it is gentle enough for newborns to the elderly and even wheelchair bound clients.
Some of the benefits you may feel after having a Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment are....Pain relief from chronic and acute injury, increased mobility, a deep sense of relaxation, improved sleep, relief from anxiety and depression.
For those without ailments, receiving regular sessions keeps the mind in harmony releasing stuck behaviour patterns and releasing tensions which in turn helps to prevent illness.

What Is Bowen Therapy
Bowen is a holistic remedial technique that works on the soft connective (fascia) of the body. It is gentle and relaxing and does not use manipulation.
Bowen Therapy was discovered by Tom Bowen (1916-1982) from Geelong Australia in the 1950’s.
It is a gentle non invasive treatment done over light clothing, the session taking about 1 hour.
It positively influences and stimulates the Automatic Nervous System ( ANS), to initiate changes in the body. The (ANS) regulates the stress response and controls over 80% of body functions, including cardiac, respiratory, peripheral circulation, reproductive, endocrine and gastrointestinal.
Bowen Therapy helps shift the nervous system into parasympathetic dominance ( rest, relax, and repair mode) sending the message to the body that the emergency is over. Once in this state stress symptoms are alleviated and the body can do what it innately does heal itself.
Some of the problems that have responded to Bowen Therapy are ~
Muscular and Skeletal problems in the neck, shoulders, hip, knees, ankles, back including sciatic.
Headaches and Migraine
Stress management, ME, Fatigue and Sleep Related Problems
Respiratory and Bronchial conditions such as hay fever
Digestive problems such as IBS
